Our vision was not to make the 997 look like a 40s-70s car, but to simply have a retro style while still maintaining the modern 997 design elements. After setting this as our goal we spent 4 months on a clay model to shape the car, working our way meticulously from front to back. We spent a lot of time on the first prototype; copying the clay form, producing the fiberglass model, 3D scanning and editing the panel, then all the fitting details, safety and strength of the parts were conscientiously checked and finally making of the actual mold to produce a precise CNC file.
It took a total of 10 months to bring this idea to production, hundreds of sketches, many sleepless hours and much learned in the process. We found excellent suppliers to make the parts in high quality, bringing our vision to life.
In the end, we painstakingly created our signature Duck Tail to add that extra vintage touch to your 911.

Garage Classics Presents

STORY
Garage Classics is a unique classic car restoration facility based in Taiwan. We have been working on classic cars each day since 2009. The base of our experience is rooted in models from the 1940s through 1970s; these models having exquisite style and luxury lines allow their potential as machines to be truly enjoyed.
Currently, we are restoring and customizing modern classics to their true potential such as the Porsche 911/912, 930, 964, and 993 models; to name a few. This particular passion began in April 2016 through our love of classic car design and styling. Our focus became the 997 (2005-2012 911) and through this quest we encountered German Professor of Transportation Design Johann Geiger of Da-Yeh University, a professional designer. In the course of this partnership we have been able to bring the classic style of yesteryear to the modern vehicle. The Flying Ducktail.
